Privacy and polish
Your chats and sign-in are better protected, the files you hand over and get back behave as you expect, and when something can’t go through, Slate now tells you why.
- Your chats and sign-in are better protected
- Images you add to chat reach the job
- A clear reason when a file won’t attach
- Delivered videos open and play
- A plain answer when your credits run out

Small things could trip you up between signing in and getting your work back: an image that never reached the job, a video that wouldn’t play, a file silently ignored, or a vague error when credits ran out. Each of these now works, or tells you plainly why it can’t. Signing in is safer too, and only you can remove messages from your chats.
Your chats and sign-in are better protected
Only you can remove messages from your chats. Sign-in and sign-up forms now wait until the page is ready before you can type, so your email and password never appear in the address bar.
Images you add to chat reach the job
Drop or paste an image into the message box, and a job started from that request now works from your actual picture. Before, it could show in the chat but never reach the job.
A clear reason when a file won’t attach
Drop or paste a file the message box can’t take, like one that isn’t an image or is too large, and a note now says which file and why. Your typed message stays put.
Delivered videos open and play
A delivered video could show “Video unavailable” even though the video itself was fine. Now it opens and plays.
A plain answer when your credits run out
If a reply stops because you’ve run out of credits, the chat now says so and suggests upgrading your plan, instead of a bare “An error occurred.” You know what to do next.

Fairer prices for images and video
What you pay for an image or video now makes sense: prices are no longer guessed at, and about 200 more models have a proper price.
- Prices that make sense before anything is made
- For many models, pay for exactly what’s made
- About 200 more models with a proper price
- Mismatched video settings caught in seconds
- No more guessed prices

Before your agent makes an image or video, Slate works out what it will cost, and for some models that figure was badly wrong. One image was quoted at about 81,000 credits; it now costs 53. About 200 more models now have a proper price, and a model that can’t be priced reliably is held back rather than guessed at.
Prices that make sense before anything is made
One image was quoted at about 81,000 credits, enough to stop the work; it now costs 53. A 10-second clip from one video model, once quoted at 54,000 credits, now costs 325.
For many models, pay for exactly what’s made
For many models, when the exact amount of work is reported, that’s what you pay for, not Slate’s own estimate. If the two ever drift far apart, we’re alerted so we can look into it.
About 200 more models with a proper price
Models for music, sound effects, voices, lip-sync, and transcription, more video models, and image tools like background removal now have a proper price, so your agent can check the cost first.
Mismatched video settings caught in seconds
On one video model, a clip too long for its chosen resolution used to fail half an hour or more later. Now it’s turned back in seconds, with the reason, so your agent can adjust.
No more guessed prices
When Slate can’t price a model reliably, it holds that model back and says so, letting your agent pick another instead of using a made-up figure. That goes for image, video, and sound models alike.

Slate used to work well only on a computer. On a phone, the chat shrank to a sliver and some buttons appeared only under a mouse. Now every page fits phones and tablets. Setting up an agent shows each step as it happens, a failed image or video no longer costs credits, and a failed payment is explained plainly.
Every page fits your phone and tablet
A menu button opens the sidebar on every page, and on an agent’s page you switch between its work and the chat. Buttons that needed a mouse now show on touch screens.
Files open full screen on small screens
Open a file on your phone and it fills the screen, with a large close button. Typing a message no longer makes your phone zoom in.
Watch your agent being set up
Setting up an agent used to mean a small spinner and a silent wait. Now each step shows as it happens, including each skill being added, and you can try again if it fails.
Failed images and videos are free
If an image or video your agent asks for fails to generate, you’re no longer charged for it. Your agent gets the real reason, not a false success.
A clear message when a payment fails
If a renewal payment fails, Slate now says so plainly, with an Update payment button that takes you straight to fixing it. Once it’s paid, your access returns on its own.

Choosing an agent meant reading a simple preview page, and a new one wasn’t ready until a setup message had run in its chat. Now each has a full profile with its portfolio and experience, and an agent you hire arrives with its skills in place. Slate also has a fresh look, and your account menu shows your credits at a glance.
A fresh look, your choice of background
Slate has a softer, glassy design. In your account menu, choose one of six soft color backgrounds or a plain one, alongside light or dark mode.
Your plan and credits at a glance
A new account menu shows your plan, your credits, and when they renew.
A full profile before you hire
Each ready-made agent has a profile page, laid out like a professional profile, that can show its portfolio, its experience and who trained it, recommendations, and its skills.
Hire it, and its skills come along
An agent you hire arrives with its skills already in place and listed on its page, ready to chat once setup is done, with no setup message first.
FixA clear page for a missing agent
Opening an agent that doesn’t exist, or isn’t yours, now shows a plain “not found” page with a way back, instead of a blank screen.

Simpler, fairer credits
Pay less for a small image than a large one, see one credit balance for chats, jobs, and images, and compare plans more easily.

A model used to charge the same for every image, whatever its size, and plans were harder to compare. Now a small image costs less than a large one, priced from what the model really costs. Chats, jobs, and images draw on one credit balance, and each plan shows its price and credits side by side.
One balance for everything
Chats, jobs, and the images your work makes all draw on the same credit balance shown in your account.
Images priced by their size
A small image now costs less than a large one from the same model, priced from what the model really costs, instead of one flat price per image.
A plans page that’s easier to compare
Each plan shows its monthly price and monthly credits side by side, kept in step with what you’re actually charged.

Starting something new meant a blank page or a trip to the gallery, and you couldn’t see how much your work used. Now seven starters sit on the home page, and a blank Slate runs exactly what you wrote. Work is counted in simple credits, with your balance in the sidebar, plans to upgrade to, and a warning before you run out.
Seven starters for common jobs
Pick Research, Spreadsheet, Data Visualization, Product Photoshoot, Image Ad, Video Ad, or a blank Slate, check the brief, and run it. Slate sets up the project for you.
A blank Slate runs what you wrote
Write your brief in a new blank Slate and run it, and the job starts with exactly what you typed.
Credits you can see
Your work is now counted in simple credits. Your balance sits in the sidebar, and a new page lets you choose a plan to upgrade to.
A warning before your credits run out
The sidebar warns you when your balance runs low, so a job doesn’t stop without a reason.
To-dos and files that update live
A project’s page now shows its to-do list and files as they change, with ticks and times, without refreshing. Links to a file in another project open on the first click.
